    Error:
"The original HP ink in the listed cartridge(s) has been depleted. You should only use this cartridge if you believe it to contain ink."

    Reason:
Replace with a new cartridge according to the above solution when the printer reports "Ink cartridge depleted" or "Replace the ink cartridge", the printer will report "Empty ink cartridge" at this time.

    Solution:
Click "OK" to print normally when the ink is sufficient.

    Error:
"Replace empty cartridges or press OK to use Black ink only."

    Reason:
The error is basically the same as the "Ink cartridge depleted", but it is caused by the difference in the page coverage. If the page coverage is small, then the printer will report this error.

    Solution:
The solution is consistent with the "Ink cartridge depleted" above.

    Error:

    Reason:
Replace with a brand new cartridge.

    close

    Error:
"One or more cartridges appear to be damaged."

Error: "There is a problem with the printer or ink system. Turn printer off, then on. If problem  persisits, contact HP."

    Reason:
①HP950 series printers have an ink detection device. If no ink is detected, the ink cartridge won't supply ink to the printer. The ink system of the printer may be considered to have malfunctioned.
②The chip volume doesn't match with the ink cartridge's actual volume. For example, install a brand-new chip on the ink cartridge with low volume, the printer will report this error.
③A failure happens on the print head or main hoard.

    Solution:
①Replace with a brand new cartridge. If the problem persists, try installing an OEM cartridge with an abnormal chip on printer for testing.
③If the above method is not available, you can test just with OEM cartridge. If the error is still resolved, then it may be caused by the printer itself.

    Error : "Older generation cartridge"

    Reason:
①The older chip cannot be upgraded on the newly-launched second-generation HP950 series printers (e.g. 8610/8620/8630/8640).
②If install the HP932 chip on the second-generation HP950 series printers, it will report an error.

    Solution:
①Upgrade the chip to the latest version.
②Avoid installing the HP932 series chips on the second-generation HP950 series printers.

    Error:
"HP Protected Cartridge Installed. Replace Cartridge."

    Reason:
This series of printers own "Cartridge Protection". If you doing chip test in this kind of printers, the chips used for test would not be used in other printers, otherwise the printers would report "Protected Supplies".

    Solution:
Replace the ink cartridge and turn off the printer's "Cartridge Protection".

    close

    Error:
"Until cartridges are installed, make sure the printer is turned on to avoid damage to the printer." (On the HP 950 series, this error message adds one more sentence "One or more cartridges appear to be damaged)

    Reason:
①The chip is not in contact with the printer or the printer's probe is damaged.
②Two or more cartridges of the same color are installed.
③Other cartridges that aren't applicable to this printer are installed.

    Solution:
①Make sure that the chip and the printer are in good contact. You can try to use a water-based marker to evenly coat the chip's contact surface and then check the extent of the scratches on the chip and the printer.
②Install a single chip into the printer. The printer will report the other three colors cannot be recognized. Thus, you can determine the chip color. If the printer reports all four colors are unrecognized, it can be inferred that the chip is not applicable to the machine
