    Common error code and solution for Canon IV/VI series printers

    Error Code Reason Solution  
    1300 Paper jam. Remove the jammed paper.  
    1303 The paper is jammed in the transport unit. Remove the jammed paper from the transport unit.  
    1304 Paper is jammed when performing automatic duplex printing. Remove the jammed paper.  
    1600 If the lamp on the ink tank is flashing, ink may have run out. ①Replacing the ink tank is recommended.
    ②If printing is in progress and you want to continue printing, press the OK button with the ink tank installed. Then printing can continue. Replacing the ink tank is recommended after the printing. The machine may be damaged if printing is continued under the ink out condition.
     
    Note: If multiple ink lamps are flashing red, check the status of each ink tank.  
    1401 The print head may be damaged. Please contact the service center.

    1680 Some ink tanks are not installed in the correct position. (The lamps on the ink tanks flash.) Confirm that the ink tanks are installed in the appropriate positions.  
    1681 More than one ink tanks of the same color are installed. (The lamps on the ink tanks flash.) Confirm that the ink tanks are installed in the appropriate positions.  
    1689 Printer detected ink out condition (The lamp on the ink tank flashes). Replace the ink tank and close the Print Head Cover.  
    ①An empty ink tank has been installed.
    ②Printing with an ink tank that was once empty may damage the printer.
    ③If you want to continue printing in this condition, you need to release the function for detecting the remaining ink level. Press and hold the RESUME/CANCEL button for at least 5 seconds, and then release it.
    ④With this operation, releasing the function for detecting the remaining ink level is memorized. Please be advised that Canon shall not be liable for any malfunction or trouble caused by continuation of printing under the ink out condition or refilled ink tanks.
     
    Note: if the function for detecting the remaining in level is disabled, the ink tank is displayed in gray on the printer status monitor.  
    1660 No ink tank is installed. Please install the ink tank.  
    1750 Appropriate ink tank is not installed ①Printing cannot be executed since the ink tank is not mismatched.
    ②Install the appropriate ink tank.
    ③If you want to cancel printing, touch the machine's Stop button.
     
    1684 The ink tank cannot be recognized. ①Printing cannot be executed because the ink tank may not be installed properly or may not be compatible with this machine.

    2900 Scanning the print head alignment sheet has failed. Press the OK button to dismiss the error, then take the actions described below.
    ①Make sure that the print head alignment sheet is set in the correct position and orientation on the platen glass.
    ②Make sure the platen glass and the print head alignment sheet are not dirty.
    ③Make sure the type and size of loaded paper is suitable for Automatic Print Head Alignment.
    ④For Automatic Print Head Alignment, always load one sheet of A4 or Letter-sized plain paper.
    ⑤Make sure if print head nozzles are clogged.
    ⑥Print the nozzle check pattern to check the status of the print head.
    ⑦If the error is not resolved, perform Manual Print Head Alignment. For more details, please refer to Online Manual.
     
    B202 An error occurred that required contact with the service center. ①Turn off the power and unplug the power cord from the power outlet.
    ②Contact the service center.

    Reason:
    There is a problem with the cartridge light pipe, causing the printer to fail to finish the light check.

    Reason:
    Repeatedly installed multiple chips of the same color.

    Solution:
    Replace with correct chips.

    Printer error "6502". At this time, you can cancel printing and restart the printer. Thus, the cartridge unit can be normally exited.


    Reason:
    PGBK is misplaced with other color chips.

    Solution:
    Install the cartridges one by one and check which color is not installed correctly. Then correctly install the chips.

    "Some ink tanks are not installed in the correct position" Error code:1680



    Reason:
    The chip got installed backwards (the chip is not installed in the corresponding color chip slot).

    Solution:
    Install the cartridge correctly.
