How to Determine the Printer's Production Date

    1. The production date can be viewed directly from the printer's nameplate.

This printer's production date is July 19, 2016.

    2. View the production date through the printer's serial number.
①Open the printer baffle, the serial number is located inside the printer (near the cartridge unit),as shown in the red square below.

②Taking the EPSON XP-630 as an example, the printer's production date is analyzed below.

It can be deduced that the printer's production date is January 26, 2016.

Calculating method (from right to left in order): CE798340LKU6 (year) 1 (month) 26 (day) 076
The 7th digit represents the year (indicated by numbers).
The 6th digit represent the month (numbers -9 indicate January to September, X, Y, Z respectively represent October, November, and December).
The 4-5th digit represents the date (indicated by numbers).

    3. View the production date from the printer chassis.
①Pull out the input tray away (not all printers with it), as shown in the red square below.

②Open the cover. The printer's production date and position are shown in the red square below.

③Taking the EPSON XP-235 as an example, the printer's production date is analyzed below.

It can be deduced that the printer's production date is August 2015.

Calculating method (from right to left in order)
The first pointer points to 15, which represents the year 2015. The second pointer points to 8, which represents the month August. Thus, the print's production date is August 2015

Error: The chip is successfully resetted by using OEM chip resetter, but it cannot be recognized.

    Solution:
①Some printers installed with Epson II high capacity ink cartridges can remember the status of the chips used. If reset the chip after it runs out of ink, then it may not be recognized by printer. You can choose to install OEM chips or a new set of Apex chips on the printer and reinstall the chips unrecognized by the printer before.
②Since Epson II and III ink cartridges have piezoelectric sensor modules, Apex's chip resetter will detect the sensor accordingly. Comparatively, printer detects the sensor more strictly, which is related to the customer's ink filling process. If air bubbles are generated around the sensors, the printer will consider the chip is run out of ink and have it unrecognized.

    Error: Chip contact surface rust

    Soution:
Be careful not to leave the ink on the chip contact surface when using the chip.

Error: The chip installed in a printer in shutdown state is not recognized.

    Solution:
①Some printers can memorize the chip's ink volume. When the first chip is illegally removed and replaced by a new chip, the printer will memorize the first chip's ink volume. After reading chip information, the chip's ink volume is inconsistent with printer's ink volume, causing the printer to report an error.
②Remove and reinstall the ink cartridge, then the chip can be recognized. Replace the ink cartridge correctly according to the printer's normal operating instructions

Error: Poor contact between the chip and the printer.

    Solution:
①It is recommended that customers cover the chip gold finger evenly with a water-based pen to see the scratches on the chip gold finger and the printer probe.
②Use an OEM cartridge with an Apex chip to see if they are recognized.

    close

    Error: The chip is defective.

    Reason:
①The information unit is mismatched as after installing the ink cartridge, "the print cartridge cradle cannot move" error displayed on the computer.
②Sensor hardware is failed as entering into cartridge cradle, the cartridge unit shakes several times before stopping to report an error (only applicable to Epson I/II/III).

    Solution:
①Check the chip model a make sure that you use the correct sensor version of the chip that matches the printer cartridge model.
②If customers cannot resolve this problem, please contact your sales manager.
