Methods to Disable the Automatic HP Firmware Updates Function

Home printer grows significantly during the pandemic, however a number of customers used with aftermarket supplies complain recently that HP's triggering firmware update via WIFI connected has made some impact to them while they are in distance learning or work.

 

Today, we will introduce three methods to disable the Automatic HP Firmware Updates function, thus you can eliminate the "Time Bomb" easily with fingers only.

 

I Via the HP Smart app

①Download your mobile device with the HP Smart app

②Enable the printer's Wireless function→click Wi-Fi Direct

③Confirm the network name and password→have your mobile device connected to the same network

④Open the HP Smart app

⑤Click "Estimated Supply Levels" on the home screen

⑥Click "Advanced Settings" → "Security" → choose "Administrator Settings"

⑦Scroll the page to the bottom → click "Printer Updates"

⑧Uncheck the marked boxes → click "Apply"


II Via HP Address

①Click "Network" on the printer control panel

②Find the printer's IP address

③Input the printer's IP address in your web browser

④Click "Settings"

⑤Click "Advanced Settings" → "Security" → "Administrator Settings"

⑥Scroll the page to the bottom → click "Printer Updates"

⑦Uncheck the marked boxes → click "Apply"

 

III Via the Printer's Service Mode

①Press "Return" four times on the printer control panel

②Enter the "Support Menu"

③Press "OK" to get to "Support"

④The firmware version is displayed on the screen

⑤Find the "Enable/Disable Menu"

⑥Find the "Firmware Update" by pressing Up and Down arrow

⑦Press "OK"

⑧"Firmware Update Disabled. Press OK to enable it" will display as it is disabled.
